John D. Reid - Ottawa Valley Weather Ways



John D. Reid PhD (Atmospheric Science)
Formerly a weather forecaster, atmospheric research scientist and manager, he retired as Director, Policy and International Affairs for the Canadian Meteorological Service. John was a negotiator for Canada for the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. In 1998 he was President of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society. Following retirement his interest switched to family and local history. He served as President of the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa.and continues to write a regular column in the society journal. John was Chair of the City of Ottawa Arts, Heritage and Culture Advisory Committee, member of the Library and Archives Canada Services Advisory Board and is on the advisory panel for Ancestry.ca.
