Course: GEN7278

This course is listed under the following fields of study:
Take this opportunity to construct that wood project you have been thinking about for a while. Complete your project in a state of the art carpentry shop under the guidance of a qualified tradesperson. Receive shop safety tips as well as instruction on using hand tools, power tools and stationary equipment. Discover how having the right tool for the job makes the project come together much easier. Whether you choose to make an outdoor piece of furniture or planter, a room accent, or a functional piece such as a vegetable bin, it's up to you!

The choice of project is up to the student and project plans including a proven hard copy and supplies list need to be approved for the course by the instructor at least two weeks prior to the start of the course.  Project plans/drawings, wood, fasteners, adhesives are the responsibility of the student to bring to the course. Contact the instructor Paul Hammel to arrange to discuss your project and the required supplies.  Steel toe boots and safety glasses are required to be worn in the shop.

It is recommended that projects should be of medium size such as an outdoor deck chair, small sofa table, wall mirror, outdoor planter or any other items that are similar in size to these. Plans can be found on the internet or at the library and it would be a good idea to have a couple of options to discuss with the instructor in advance of the course to ensure the project chosen can be completed or nearly completed in the ten hours of the course.
