This course is designed to provide relevant theoretical instruction and practical experience in foot care for Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses to become Foot Care Nurses. This level studies the foot, and addresses the etiology, treatment and prevention of common foot problems including structural abnormalities, nail pathology and skin/tissue (soft) disorders. Infection control is highlighted throughout the course. The uses of and practice with basic foot care instruments are part of this learning experience.

Notes: A copy of current registration as an RN or RPN with the College of Nurses must be presented to the instructor at the first class. It is mandatory that students practise on each other and therefore should not cut their toenails for at least four weeks prior to the course. Please remove nail polish. Text included.
