WINE APPRECIATION     4

Are you a long-time wine enthusiast who has always longed to learn more about this great beverage? If so, enrol in this certificate program, taught at Algonquin's prestigious C.A. Paradis Wine Lab, and join other like-minded individuals in classes delivered by enthusiastic and knowledgeable instructors. In an interactive and fun setting, students gain confidence in selecting wines, learn an appreciation for wine styles, and expand their awareness of vintages.

Students learn about wine tasting, grape varieties, wine regions of the world, and vinification, and sample a wide variety of wines from the Liquor Control Board of Ontario's (LCBO) general list and from current Vintages releases. The program also covers the theoretical and practical aspects of food and wine matching and provides insight into the purchasing, cellaring, and collecting of wine.

Students can personalize their education by selecting areas of interest in relation to their wine study requirements. In recognition of achievement, students are awarded a wine appreciation certificate and have the opportunity to transfer their elective credits to the Sommelier program to attain a higher designation.

To qualify for this certificate, you must complete one compulsory course and three electives within six years.
