Academic Pathway for RPN Diploma to BScN Program


If you are a practical nurse with a diploma and want to bridge to the BScN program, the admission requirements are:
 
Must have worked for a minimum of one year as a Diploma RPN (full scope of practice) before entering Phase One.

Graduate from a Diploma Practical Nursing Program. . Have a graduating GPA of "3" or higher or its equivalency. . Meet the University of Ottawa BScN entrance requirements of Biology (SBI4U-65%), Chemistry (SCH4U-65%) and Math (MCF3M-50%) or one 4U Mathematics. . Those educated in a language other than English must have completed three years studying in English full time. .
 
Graduates of Algonquin PN Diploma are given equivalence for SCH4U.
 
PHASE ONE: Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition - duration three months at Algonquin College (Winter Intake). Phase One can be completed on a part time basis.

PHASE TWO: Full time at University of Ottawa - duration eight months (two semesters continuous - Fall Intake. Students must achieve a C+ average to advance to Phase Three. Phase Two can be completed in one year or via part time studies over a three year period with a maximum of four years to complete both Phase One and Two.

PHASE THREE: Admission to Year Three BScN undergraduate program.
