Cartoonists and illustrators use their creativity and imagination, as well as drawing and writing skills, to create worlds that readers want to enter again and again. In this very practical hands-on course, students learn how to take an idea from concept to completed cartoon or illustration. Students learn how to create their own single-panel cartoons and illustrations, as well as multi-panel cartoons and illustrations. They learn basic shading techniques and discover many ways to make their characters come alive. Students discover how our minds process humour and visual presentations, and why cartoons and illustrations stick with us for so long. They also learn the many uses for these very creative and versatile art forms. Beginners are welcome to this introductory course.
